For Validity and Fairness, All NewzBrain Challenge Rules Must Be Followed.

The following are the Rules and Process details on how the NewzBrain Challenge will be administered.

1. A NewzBrain Challenge team consists of 2-5 students who test online in the school.
2. Students in grades 3 through high school may enter the NewzBrain Challenge.
3. A test period lasts 30 minutes or less. The test is 50 multiple choice questions.
4. NewzBrain Challenge (monthly) tests will cover news from the first three weeks of the month. The test is the last week of the month and the first week of the next month.
5. News Bowl will post a state and national listing in ranking order in real-time.
6. Each team must choose a team captain to enter answers using the mouse.
7. Each team must choose a team member to record the answers on a NewzBrain Answer Sheet.
8. A student may test only one time per NewzBrain Challenge (month).
9. Team members may not use notes or search engines while testing.
10. Teachers or any one else in the room at the time of testing may not help the team answer questions.
11. Scores do not aggregate monthly because teams may change or some classrooms may not test every NewzBrain Challenge.
12. The goal for each team is to reach the "benchmark" or passing score for their grade level.
13. In case of computer failure during testing, the team should go back to home page, refresh and start over with a new team name. (Important: If starting over, a new team name must be reused or the score will not register.)
